When I first heard this song by Conan Gray it hit home. He didn’t write it about our town, but sometimes, it felt like it was absolutely written for our Idle Town. Our Little Luxembourg.
This town will never change
Idle Town, Conan Gray
People come and go, it’s all the same
One of the things I struggled with in 2022 as well, was balancing outside feedback, and people’s wishes, expectations — with my own. I feel like ever since I was in school I’ve just been working, and working and working to be and become ‘good enough’ to make a positive contribution to the world.
I need to learn to take breaks, and I want to learn to give myself time.
So many people telling me one way
Burning, Whitest Boy Alive
So many people telling me to stay
Never had time to have my mind made up
Caught in a motion that I don’t wanna stop
Again, a song about reminding ourselves that not everything is a race to the end. “Σα βγεις στον πηγαιμό για την Ιθάκη, να εύχεσαι νάναι μακρύς ο δρόμος”. From our relationships, to our dreams, life is the journey. Not the destination – because there is no destination…Memento Mori, right?
So, I hope I learn to slow down.
Go forward slowly
You’re Somebody Else, Flora Cash
It’s not a race to the end
And finally, to end on a happier mood. Let’s celebrate, let’s forget some things, let’s pretend we’re in Antarctica see you in the new year.
Let’s have bizarre celebrations.

Let’s forget who, forget what, forget where.
